Ao vivo
From Portugal
here comes PAUS, a band formed in Lisboa in 2009 by Hélio Morais, Fábio Jevelim,
Joaquim Albergaria and MakotoYagyu. Two drummers, one bassist and keyboards
experimenting with pop and the psychedelic sounds. They performed at Sala Apolo
of Barcelona as a part of the Primavera Touring Party, first edition of a
touring festival programmed in Barcelona, Zaragoza, Santander, Gijón, Santiago
de Compostela, Valladolid, London, Bordeaux, Valencia, Bilbao and Madrid. The
performance of PAUS was one of the most interesting ones of the festival’s
opening in Barcelona which had started with Lee Ranaldo, Refree and Standstill.
PAUS were the fourth to play and showed a powerful sound that even touches hardcore
elements in some moments. Their performance was deeply intense creating a new
experience in comparison with the recorded versions of the songs being faithful
to the fact that every concert is a live event and life means always change and the consequent evolution.
PAUS released a
debut EP in 2001 titled É uma água
which opened with Pelo pulso, a
perfect proof of the power of the band. Since then the band has only released the
album titled PAUS in 2011 which reached number 3 in the Portuguese charts and featuring
magnificent tracks like Bandeira Branca, more
dominated by keyboard sounds that create a dreamy atmosphere. Next year they
are going to release a second album and after their performance in Barcelona we
are sure it will be a very interesting step beyond.
