In 2018 Jean-Gabriel Périot teamed up with ten film students at a school in Ivry-sur-Seine to work on a project linking cinema and politics. The students worked both in front of and behind the camera, restaging scenes of strikes, resistance and labour disputes from films made between the late 1960s and the late 1970s, including ones by Godard and Tanner. Nos défaites assembles the results and adds interviews in which the dPublicar entradairector probes the students about the scenes they have just acted in, exploring concepts such as class, labour unions and political engagement. A simple yet trenchant setup that gives viewers a glimpse of how a younger generation sees politics.
