VIRGILIO SIENI

Solo Goldberg Improvisation

“Improvisation” and “solo” are two concepts that clearly at odds with each other, if the transformation of things brings us closer each time to tasting and experiencing them. This is, reluctantly. We don't see that our mind is nourished by these experiences. Jacques Prevert wrote "Only those who can enjoy being alone amongst the many can be truly happy." We all know that's the way it goes but few of us can see how to arrive at this harmonic state of being. Virgilio Sieni, known as the architect of the body, gives free reign to bodily expression with movements under the influence of Bach's music. Sieni poses the challenge of accepting our weaknesses, our capacity to face up to uncertainty, putting our own feelings and creativity to the test, live. For Sieni, Bach is a means to reflect. For us, it's the path to freedom.
