Underrated silence
There is much more to the world of electronic
music than the general public tend to think. From those first sound effects
produced by futurists at the beginning of the twentieth century, to
superimposing the sound of several acetates, to the appearance of magnetic tape
and the loop generation which gave way to the avant-garde in the 1950s and
enabled the Beatles to bring it to the masses in the 60s by going
against the musicians’ unions who considered it fraud. There has been a lot of
water under the bridge and it has not always been to everyone’s taste. One of
the best proofs of this is German composer Ulrich Schnauss, who has had an
extensive and prestigious career and is presenting his latest album Underrated silence. The Northern countries
are much more open to avant-garde music and hence his network of
clubs for such concerts. At last, however, it is our chance to enjoy it.
