MARYSIA WOJTASZEK

The Abduction of Autumn

It's cold today
but I don't accept it.
I'm going to seduce Autumn.
I will tempt him with the hot wiles
of a winterphobic woman, lock him
up in an empty drawer and afterwards
throw the key into the deepest, darkest loch.
Then, as I sit, spent, watching those wet circles
swallow their prize before becoming nothingness
I will be warmed; channelling Summer from the inside out.
